Detailed Explanation of 20 Different Pump Types(2)
2、 Multi stage centrifugal pump
Equivalent to multiple centrifugal pumps connected in series, increasing pressure step by step, can achieve higher head pressure.
Performance characteristics: Compared with single-stage pumps, multi-stage centrifugal pumps differ in that multi-stage pumps have two or more impellers, which can absorb and pressurize water in stages and stages, thereby lifting the water to a high position. The head can be increased or decreased according to the needs of the pump impeller stage. Multi stage pumps are mainly used for mine drainage, urban and factory water supply, and are rarely used for agricultural irrigation. They are only suitable for lifting water in high mountain areas with high lift and low flow to solve the difficulty of drinking water for humans and livestock.
There are two types of multi-stage centrifugal pumps: vertical and horizontal. The pump shaft of a multi-stage centrifugal pump is equipped with two impellers connected in series, which can achieve higher head compared to a typical single-stage centrifugal pump; Compared to reciprocating pumps such as piston pumps and diaphragm pumps, it can also pump larger flow rates. Multi stage centrifugal pumps have high efficiency and can meet the needs of high head and high flow conditions. They have been widely used in industries such as petrochemicals, chemical engineering, power, construction, and fire protection.
Due to its unique characteristics, multi-stage centrifugal pumps have different and higher technical requirements in terms of design, use, and maintenance compared to single-stage centrifugal pumps. Often, it is due to people's negligence or inadequate consideration of some details that multi-stage centrifugal pumps frequently experience abnormal wear, vibration, shaft holding and other faults after being put into use, which also leads to shutdowns.
