Detailed Explanation of 20 Different Pump Types(4)

4. Screw Pump

The twin-screw pump is very similar to the gear pump. As one screw rotates, it drives the other, trapping the liquid in the meshing chamber and pushing it along the axis of the screws, then expelling it toward the center.

Performance characteristics:

Advantages:  1) Wide range of pressure and flow;  2) Versatile in transporting various types of liquids and viscosities;  3) High rotational speed achievable due to low inertia forces of rotating components within the pump;  4) Excellent suction performance with self-priming capability;  5) Uniform and continuous flow, minimal vibration, and low noise;  6) Less sensitive to incoming gases and contaminants compared to other rotary pumps;  7) Robust construction, easy installation and maintenance.

Disadvantages: The processing and assembly requirements for the screw are relatively high; the pump's performance is sensitive to changes in liquid viscosity.
